CARBONDALE — How safe is your computer from hackers and other dangers floating around the web?
SIU hosted Cyber Security Day Saturday for future cyber security teams.
Teams from local high school and junior colleges joined the SIU team to solve different cyber scenarios that organizers say are a growing threat.
“People get phished all the time. Even here on campus, there’s phasing scams that go around all the time and hundreds of people fall bait and that’s typically bad. Out in the corporate world there’s still a lot of vulnerability associated with websites. Bad coding on websites,” said Tom Imboden, an SIU Associate Professor who leads the event.
Imboden said that SIU grads often get jobs protecting information of large corporations like Boeing.
